Outstanding FE Leader recognised in Honours list

157 Group Executive Director Lynne Sedgmore has congratulated three Principals of member colleges who received Orders of the British Empire in the New Year Honours List.

Frank Mcloughlin Principal of City and Islington College and Keith Elliott, Principal of City of Bristol College were both awarded CBE's whilst Asha Khemka of West Notts College is awarded an OBE. Their awards raise the number of 157 members who have been awarded honours to a third of the group's total.

Sedgmore said: "I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate those within our membership who were acknowledged by the Government for their contribution to education.''

"These awards pay testament to the remarkable leadership that our members provide within their colleges and the realm of the further education more broadly. The Orders reflect the passion with which their recipients champion learning for all age groups and acknowledge the significance that further education has for the improvement of society in general.

Graham Moore Chair of the 157 Group added:

"2009 has begun with a very proud moment for our members and organisation as a whole. This promises to be the most significant year in the 157 Group's history and it has started with a real bang.''
